If you've been following our company or watching our content for any amount of time, you are probably aware that we think body armor is very important. Here at T.REX ARMS, we're not only a second amendment, but we're also a sixth commandment company. So what does that mean exactly? Well, we value life a lot. We want to be able to protect life and body armor is one of the best ways to do that as a prepared citizen. So we want you guys to have body armor so you can defend your life.
The most popular sets of body armor that we sold were plates called the Hesco L210s. Now these were very common plates because they offered protection from the most common carbine rounds, and they were also very, very affordable plates. In fact, we actually prioritized the fitment of our medium sized AC1s around that plate because of how popular that body armor was. Unfortunately, that plate went away due to just the upgrade in the materials that Hesco used. So they eventually turned into the Hesco L210s, which we also sell on our website. However, they are not as cheap as they used to be because of the new threat protection and how light they are.
So we reached out to Hesco to see if they could offer us a new plate that would be similar to the L210s. So we could have a plate to provide you guys at that good affordable price point that offered good threat protection. And that is what we have here. We have the Hesco T212s. So the T does stand for T.REX. Well, it can stand for a number of things, but the T is because this is a proprietary plate we're offering here at T.REX ARMS. So the Hesco T212 is a very similar plate to the L210. The good news is, first and foremost, this plate set for both plates is sub $400, which is a fantastic price point. This is going to be able to offer a lot of people good threat protection for a very reasonable price.
Long story short, the T212s offer one more round of threat protection from 5.56 round. So we now, these plates now stop not only M193, so your 55 grain and your 62 grain green tip of M855, but now also M855A1. So we're going to see threat protection from the most common 5.56x45 millimeter rounds. And that is an improvement over the L210s. However, this plate does lose threat protection against one of the 7.62x39 rounds, and that is API. So this plate still offers the threat protection from the most common 7.62x39 rounds that you'll see from AK47s. But we're going to lose that API protection.
Another awesome improvement for the T212s over the Hesco L210s is the reduction in weight. So the L210s came in at five and a half pounds per plate, not the heaviest plate in the world but definitely not the lightest. Now the T212s are 4.7 pounds per plate. So between both your plates, you're losing over a pound between your two plates, which is a fantastic improvement. When you come down to what you're getting for your money when you buy body armor, you're obviously going to be paying more for more protection but you're also going to be paying more for less weight. So plates that offer obviously maximum protection with the least amount of weight are going to be very expensive. So these plates come in at just four and a half pounds, basically 4.7 pounds with the same threat protection basically as L210s, in my opinion a little bit better because M855A1 is more common comparatively the 7.60x39 API. It's a very good thing. So we're able to offer very very good plates that stop the most common carbine cartridges that you're going to experience at a very affordable price.
So the next question is going to come down to just size and fitment of these plates. So we're going to offer these plates just in the large size. So when you hear large, it is going to be very similar to your medium sappy cut because these are shooter cuts. So these are 10 by 12s, slightly longer than medium plates but they're going to fit very similar to medium sappy plates just due to the shooter cut. Now one of the reasons why these plates are so much cheaper than other ESCO plates is because they are single curve. So single curve means that the plate only curves around your body in this way, not so much vertically. So you're going to notice some difference in comfort comparatively to what we call multi-curve plates. There's going to be much more expensive plates. So like your M210s, your 3810s, plates like that that are going to cost a lot more money are multi-curve but you're still getting very good threat protection at a very good weight for a very very good price with the T212s.
When it comes to what size plate carrier you should be getting if you buy these plates, you're going to want a medium plate carrier. So what we have here is a medium AC0 and I'm just going to demonstrate throwing these guys into the plate carrier. As you guys see, you're just going to slide the plates, the plate into the plate bag and it's a nice easy fit. It's not super snug or anything like that. So you obviously are going to have plenty of room for your plate backers if you so wish. These plates plus the plate baggers fit quite nice. It's not taking a lot of effort to get them in there and that's exactly what we want to see. We don't have to try and stuff these plates into the plate bags. We want them to fit quite nicely and that is exactly what we achieved
There you have it guys. We have the Hesco T212s, essentially the revival of the Hesco L210, our most common and best-selling plates to date. We're just really happy to have these back to you guys so you guys have a good body armor option at an affordable price. So if you guys have any questions regarding this plate when it comes down to fitment, what plate carriers this may fit in, whether it's our plate carriers or another company's, questions about if this is the right body armor for you or you should step up, really any questions at all shoot us an email at [email protected].
