Receiving + Inventory Specialist
Reports To: Inventory Lead
Location: Onsite – Centerville, TN
Wage: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour

The Receiving + Inventory Specialist is responsible for unloading, inspecting, verifying, and processing incoming shipments while maintaining accurate warehouse inventory. This role ensures received products match purchase orders, are in good condition, and are properly documented, staged, and stored in designated locations. In addition to receiving duties, the position supports cycle counts, audits, and inventory improvement initiatives to maintain an organized and reliable inventory system.
Responsibilities
Receiving Operations
- Receive, unload, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing slips
- Serve as the primary source of truth for inbound inventory, ensuring accurate counts and documentation
- Inspect incoming goods for damage, defects, or discrepancies and report issues promptly
- Accurately record verified inventory in the Warehouse Management System (WMS)
- Complete physical put-away of verified inventory into designated storage locations
- Stage inbound inventory in an organized manner to support efficient warehouse flow
Inventory Accuracy + Health
- Assist with cycle counts and inventory audits to maintain accurate inventory records
- Investigate and report inventory discrepancies or variances
- Support inventory reconciliation efforts when discrepancies occur
- Assist in maintaining proper inventory location organization and storage standards
Warehouse Organization
- Maintain an organized, safe, and clean receiving area
- Support overall warehouse 5S standards and operational efficiency
- Ensure received products are stored in designated and properly labeled locations
Communication + Coordination
- Communicate inventory status and receiving issues with purchasing and inventory teams
- Provide clear documentation of discrepancies or receiving issues
- Follow all company inventory controls, policies, and safety procedures
Skills Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Basic computer proficiency and data entry skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Skills
- Previous experience in a warehouse, receiving, or inventory role
- Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), QuickBooks Online (QBO), or similar software
- Experience performing cycle counts or inventory audits
- Forklift certification
