The TLR-7 series has long been our go-to compact pistol light. The switches are easily activated without significantly altering your grip, they sit flush with G19-sized handguns, and the output is more than acceptable for standard pistol engagement distances.
The most recent update to the TLR-7 series is the TLR-7 X, which now features compatibility with Streamlight's SL-B9 rechargeable battery (sold separately). This rechargeable option features the same 500 lumen, 5000 candela output with a slightly reduced runtime of 1 hour versus the 1.5 hours you'd get from a CR123. While you get less performance on paper, in the long term, not having to replace relatively expensive batteries is a good trade-off in our book. Even if you aren't interested in the rechargeable capabilities, the TLR-7 X looks and functions identically to the TLR-7A. So, there are no trade-offs from the previous model if you still want to stick with the CR123A batteries.
The TLR-7 X is identical to the TLR-7A. Therefore, The TLR-7 X will fit in all of our TLR-7A holsters. Old or new.
