The Mantis Blackbeard is a drop-in replacement for your standard AR-15 bolt carrier that not only renders your weapon completely safe but offers a semi-realistic trigger reset and a visible laser that can be helpful for dryfiring target transitions, height over bore, and several other fundamentals. There is debate about whether the laser becomes a crutch, but that ultimately depends on the user. We find a simple piece of tape to block the laser is an effective way to get the trigger reset without any distraction.

Let's be clear: not everyone needs this. There are many effective dryfire techniques and practices that don't require expensive equipment. The Blackbeard does provide some unique capabilities that can help increase the benefits of dryfire if utilized properly.

You might ask, "Didn't you guys already sell the Blackbeard?" The answer is yes; we sold the BlackbeardX with all the fancy motion tracking and app compatibility. After further consideration, we found that the X version of the Blackbeard was not worth the extra 100+ dollars over the standard version. The standard Blackbeard can still be a valuable training tool, so we now offer it over the more expensive BlackbeardX.

Picked up the Mantis Blackbeard to get more reps without burning ammo. Thousands of trigger presses later, it has had fewer failures than the company's conflict resolution process. Installation took about 30 seconds. Internal stability apparently takes a little longer. The reset is instant, unlike the next public statement. Overall, it's an outstanding training tool. The Blackbeard has survived more dry-fire reps than T.REX has survived response videos, and somehow produces less heat. 10/10. If they could engineer leadership with the same reliability as this thing, we'd all have a lot less entertainment.
