I wanted to protect my rso and I had tried several options before I found this one but they were mostly on the weak side of protection… the shield is sturdy and it does seem like it will take a pretty decent hit before it will bend. However, fitting my fingers into the holes to turn the rso on or make adjustments was an impossibility. I had to dremel out a much larger space before I was able to use the buttons with my fingers and I do not have very large hands. I’m not a metal worker by trade and so of course the guard looks a bit beat up from all the times I slipped with the dremel or took it over the edge. I would also like to mention, I put this on my rso on my bul tac comp, and the only failures I’ve ever had on this pistol are because the guard pinned the ejected casing between the frame and the guard. (I put a casing in the spot to replicate the problem). I’ve used multiple types of different ammo, weights and brands, and it doesn’t seem to make a difference. I also changed out my spring and it happened again…. I’ve been trying to figure out what further modifications I can make to fix this as it happens about once every hundred rounds. If I don’t figure something out I’ll have to go with something different again, I wish there were more options.
