Uncontrolled bleeding is the leading cause of preventable death in trauma. A severe injury can be fatal in 3–5 minutes, often faster than an ambulance can reach you.

A multicenter study across 11 Level I trauma centers found that civilian, prehospital tourniquet use cut mortality 6-fold in patients with severe limb injuries.

A tourniquet at home does nothing for you on the road. Carry one where you actually are.
