1. General a. Purpose. The purpose of this manual is to describe procedures and activities for the physical reconditioning section or comparable sections established as a component part ol the Physical Medicine Service in hospitals. b. Medical Supervision. The activities described in this manual are the basic activities conducted in the physical reconditioning sections or comparable sections under the medical supervision of a physiatrist. c. Scope. This manual outlines activities designed for patients at different stages of recovery—bed, semiambulant, and ambulant patients. The activities are arranged so as to be utilized on an individual prescription basis for each patient. They will be found generally suitable for conditions specified but it is not intended that all activities will be used in each individual case.
