This manual supersedes TM 11-420, 7 August 1941, Tables of Vertical and Horizontal Components of Distances of Pilot Balloons. PILOT BALLOON TABLES MAY2C'4* (30-GRAM) 1. PURPOSE, a. The tables m this manual provide a simple means of determining the hori zontal distances traveled by a 30-gram balloon from an observation point. The distances given are for the end of each minute of flight from the first minute through the 60th minute. b. The tables apply only to 30-gram balloons (Balloon ML-50, ML-51, ML-64, ML-155, and ML-156) which are inflated with hydrogen sufficiently to support the weight of Cock ML-56 in addition to the weight of the balloon. When Lantern ML-91 or some other equipment is used in flight, such equipment should be hung on the small hook on Cock ML-56 while the balloon is being inflated. 'C.
