This training circular is designed to serve as a reference for the pharmacy specialist working in an operations environment outside of a Defense Health Agency (DHA) medical treatment facility (MTF). The 68Q, Pharmacy Specialist, is a vital member of the healthcare delivery team whose actions contribute to the overall health, welfare, and readiness of the United States (U.S.) military forces. ROLES 1-2. Pharmacy specialists perform various roles within the pharmacy. Some roles include, but are not limited to— • Ordering medications. • Assisting license pharmacists with preparing medications for dispensing. • Serving as the custodian of controlled substances. • Assisting with patient triage. • Fulfilling medic roles in austere environments.
