10 Jul 2024 TC 3-20.31-9 vii Introduction TC 3-20.31-9 provides a training strategy for Armored Platoons using the operations process, 8-Step training model, applicable Army doctrine, regulations, and technical manuals (TMs) to plan, prepare, execute, and assess services. Services are regulated by AR 750-1, with applicable TMs, unit SOPs, and commanders' guidance, and without a coherent training strategy there is a great variation in execution by the operational force. As the DOTMLPF-P proponent for the M1 Abrams and M2 Bradley, the Armor School identified collective level platoon services, rather than piecemealed platforms, is the most efficient and effective way to train and perform the services mission.
