TC 3-11 is designed to guide CBRN unit mission-essential task (MET) proficiency progression at echelon. As CBRN units integrate into supported units, it is imperative to use doctrinal terms to communicate training and mission requirements, capabilities, and gaps. It is the CBRN unit's responsibility to provide maneuver commanders quality support and trained Soldiers who are proficient in common and CBRN-specific tasks. The CBRN validation tables (CVT) play a key role in this process. Commanders may use the CVT, along with the CBRN mission-essential task list (METL) crosswalk, to determine which tasks to train and validate based on their assessment of the unit's task proficiency, METL or assigned METs, and assigned missions. Time, resources, and command emphasis must all focus on training tasks that support the METL.
