This manual, which is a complete revision of the Warship Recognition Manual (ONI 200), presents a pictorial survey of representa- tive naval vessels of various maritime powers for use in recognition training. Pictures and drawings of the major combatant types are supplemented by brief notes and data to assist in identification. Coverage and space allocations have been adjusted to assure increased emphasis on minor combatant, amphibious, and important auxiliary types. Where some vessels of a class have undergone modification, the vari- ance in appearance is shown by inserts on the drawings if the change is minor, or by supple- mentary pages if a major alteration has been made. Ship classes are presented by nationality and type and are arranged, for the most part, in reverse chronological order of completion or alteration.
