Recent operations and the advent of new technologies have increased the expeditionary capabilties of the Marine air-ground task force (MAGTF). An emerging concept is for the aviation combat element's (ACE) commander to designate a single site commander at a specific location. This site commander has the responsibility and authority for aviation and ground support assets associated with sortie generation. This consolidation of responsibility and authority will— Affect the traditional roles and command relationships at a site's combat operations center (COC) and forward operating bases (FOBs). Require some modification to the ACE's existing command and control (C2) structure. The application of aviation site command requires a modification in traditional C2 structure.
