About

The mission of the assault amphibian (AA) battalion is to conduct amphibious and mechanized operations to support the ground combat element (GCE) with maneuver, fires, force protection, and command and control (C2). The AA battalion and subordinate units— • Provide task-organized forces to transport assault elements, selected equipment, and supplies ashore in mechanized ship-to-shore movement and to conduct other combat support operations. • Support amphibious operations, including participating in the planning, coordination, and execution of ship-to-shore, shore-to-shore, riverine, and other operations, as directed. • Conduct offensive and defensive mechanized operations to support embarked infantry with armor protected firepower, communication assets, and mobility.
