Chapter 3 SECTION DRILL Section I. GENERAL 7. Purpose The purpose of section drill is to develop maxi- mum efficiency and precision coupled with high speed. Commands and formations for section drill are prescribed in this chapter. 8. Instructions a. Adherence to drills prescribed in this manual is necessary to develop maximum efficiency and to prevent injury to personnel and damage to equip- ment. Section drill must be conducted in silence, except for commands and reports. The section must be drilled until reactions to commands are automatic, rapid, and efficient. b. Errors must be corrected immediately. Each member of the section must be impressed with the importance of reporting promptly to the chief of section any errors discovered before or after the command to fire has been given. The chief of sec- tion will immediately report errors to the execu- tive officer. c.
