Air movement is an air operation executed in accordance with prepared plans designed to insure air transport of supplies, equipment, and personnel. A unit's mobility capability requires that the unit be able to package, document, onload/off-load, and tie-down equipment. This manual provides an overview of the air transportability considerations of Army personnel and equipment, including air- craft loading procedures and related fundamentals and tech- niques. While the fundamental principles and techniques discussed pertain to Air Force aircraft, the same general princi- ples apply to Army aircraft. This manual, together with FM 55-12, AR 59-106, and TM 38- 250, provides a unit commander the basic guidance needed for planning and executing a successful deployment by air.
