The term "transport mode," as used in this manual with respect to responsibilities of the transportation officer, refers to either motor, rail, air, or water transportation. (Pipeline transportation is not included, since this is a responsibility of the Quartermaster.) b. The term "transport means" refers to carrier equipment utilized within a transport mode. c. The term "transportation service" is used in this manual to describe collectively the services provided by transportation staff and operating elements of a command.
