This manual is issued as a general guide for field press censorship personnel to aid them in their training and, in the field, in meeting the censorship problems arising in day-to-day operations. Based as it is upon experience in World War II and the Korean operations, field press censors will find that the manual provides excellent background material and historical examples for reference and guidance. The manual will likewise be of value to information personnel with whom field press censorship works in close association in combat areas. Generally speaking, the principles and examples set forth in this manual apply to field press censorship operations in any combat area. However, it must always be kept in mind that censorship is necessarily flexible in nature; there can be no hard and fast rules or regulations for all situations.
