1. Purpose and Scope a. This manual is a guide to training management and the preparation and conduct of tactical exercises used in training. It provides guidance and assistance to personnel at all levels responsible for training individuals and units. To avoid repetition, the infantry division battle group is used as the command level for illustrating the application of the principles and procedures discussed. Reserve components and commands other than infantry can readily adapt these principles and procedures to their particular use. b. The material contained herein is applicable without modification to both nuclear and nonnuclear warfare. 2.
