The manual defines the roles, interrelationships, and functions of the various levels of command to include their combat, combat support, and combat service support requirements to conduct operations in general war, limited war, and cold war, including stability operations. The levels of command discussed are the theater army, army groups, field army, and corps, including separate and independent corps. Where appropriate, the manual also discusses operations of other services that support Army ground tactical operations.
