There are a lot of different EDC flashlight options on the market, and we actually sell quite a bit of different options as well, whether it's from Streamlight or from SureFire. But what we're gonna do in this video is go over the Streamlight options that we have on the website now. So first and foremost, we're gonna go over the wedge flashlights that we have here. So these are gonna be the ones that look, I guess, like a wedge.
And then there are the micro and macro streamlight flashlights that we're gonna go over at the end of the video. We'll open these up when we get to them. But first, let's get into the wedges. So when it comes to picking an EDC flashlight, there are a lot of things you consider, but it's really not that complicated a decision. When it comes down to these flashlights, really what you're picking from is just the difference in form factor. So the wedge flashlights do have a pretty interesting form factor, as in they're shaped like a knife. So generally people like these because they just fit in the pocket a little bit easier with a traditional flashlight, like the SureFire Turbo, that's cylinder shaped, it's circular, it can kind of roll around in your pocket, it can kind of like fish back and forth like this. So say like, my fingers attach is the top of the pocket, it's attached here, it can kind of do one of these numbers quite a bit or twist around like this. The wedge flashlight helps mitigate that a little bit, helps us to stay a little bit sturdy, and it can be a little bit more comfortable in the pocket. Now, when it comes to activating the flashlight, it's actually pretty similar to a traditional flashlight like that SureFire, it's just a button on the end of the flashlight. Now, the larger wedge, so the smaller one's the wedge XT, which you would think stands for XT or XL, kind of generally indicates size of a flashlight, but not in this case. The wedge XT is the smaller one, and the regular wedge is the larger one. So the larger wedge actually has a wheel for activation of the light. So both of these flashlights do have two power output modes, there's gonna be a low mode and a high mode, or you can call it admin mode or full output mode. The total output of the flashlights on high mode for the small one's 500 lumens, and then the large one is 1000 lumens, so pretty decent output. For all of the other technical specifications regarding the light when it comes to run time and things like that, just check out the product page for each specific light, because if I go over all of them for all of these flashlights, we're gonna be here for like an hour. So I'm just gonna give you guys the lumens basically, the output of these flashlights.
So with the small one, when I activate the flashlight for the smaller wedge XT, if I just click the button, it's gonna be a constant option, but if I hold the button down, it'll be momentary, it's very, very similar to the way the stream light pistol lights work actually. So with these flashlights, they are programmable. So if you're familiar with the rifle lights or the pistol lights, they have the 10 button activation system to change the programming of the light. So when you get the light initially for the small guy, when you first hit the button, it's going to give you your high output mode. And then when you hit it a second time, it'll be your low output. As you can see, this is opposite because I already programmed it because I think the admin mode's a little bit more beneficial for most use cases. And when I need the admin mode, I don't want a ton of light to come out first and give me too much light and blind me essentially. So when I program this thing, so as you guys can see, it's admin mode first and then high output, if I double click it correctly.
So if I want to change that, I'm just going to click the button 10 times, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10 and hold it, you're going to see it blink. Once it's done blinking, I'll let go of the button. And now when I hit the button the first time, it'll be the high output instead of the low output. So now if I want to get to that admin mode, I just click the button twice and I'm on the admin mode. And if I want to change it back, I just do the same thing and we're good to go. So when it comes to charging both of these flashlights, they come with a USB-C cable to charge them. So these do not have replaceable batteries. You're going to have to charge them like you would basically any other device that you own, like your phone or your watch.
So it comes with that USB-C cable, comes with your owner's manual, a sticker, and then some tools, but all that to say, this light's very simple. It comes out of the box, ready to go and just has the two output modes.
For the other wedge flashlight, it is a little bit different. All the features that are exactly the same, but the button is actually this little rotary dial thing that I'm actually not the biggest fan of, but it may be your jam. So we're going to offer it to you guys because, you know, this is all just a preference thing, like I said, and a lot of these flashlights, the decisions for these flashlights are just a personal preference. So with the circle, little rotary dial, a little activation thing here, if I just slide it up halfway, I have my admin mode. So that's cool. I have my admin mode first. And then if I push it all the way up, it's full power and that is constant only. So I can't have the full power mode and constant mode as it's configured currently.
And just to be clear, this light is not programmable like this light. So your first mode here is your low mode. That's all you got. You can't change that to your high mode if you want to. And then when you push the button up to the high mode, that is momentary only. So this first switch here is constant. This doesn't really have a spring, but if I push it all the way up, it's got a little spring there and we'll go back down to the constant admin mode.
Other than that, what comes in the package is exactly the same. You just get a little piece of 550 cord here for whatever reason. I actually not really sure what you would use this for. This is a very small lanyard, but if you want it, there it is. I probably would never use that. And the USB-C charging port on the larger Wedge XT is actually in the place of the button on the small guy. And then the small guy, the USB-C charging port is just on the back of the flashlight. So if you guys want my personal opinion, not that that's worth anything, I would probably go with the small light over the large one, because I think the features of this one are a little bit better.
Last thing to note about both of these lights, they do come in black and tan, and also the larger Wedge flashlight. You can take off the clip, you can take the clip off of both of them, but on the large one, you can take the clip off and relocate it to the other side of the flashlight if you so desire. All that really does is just orientate the button for when you pull it out of your pocket if you have it on your left side or your right side for the button to be in the right spot, basically.
So moving on to the micro and macro flashlight options here, these are gonna be more of your traditionally shaped flashlight. So they're gonna be, you know, that cylinder type shape rather than the kind of pocket knife shape. So we're gonna be offering the micro stream both in rechargeable option and the option that requires a battery. So the first one I have here is the non-rechargeable option. These flashlights are very, very tiny. They're very lightweight and they're also very cost effective. So this one requires just one AAA battery and has a undisclosed output. They actually don't advertise it on the packaging.
So to put the, to install the battery in the flashlight is take the tail cap off, drop the battery in, so when I put the battery in, I'm gonna put the positive end down and then just screw the tail cap back onto the flashlight. I will say with these flashlights, they are made of a cheaper aluminum. That does not mean they're not durable by any means. They just don't require, you know, the same type of material that other things require like guns and whatnot. You can cross thread this tail cap back on. So just be careful as you do that. It is a softer aluminum.
So once the tail cap is screwed all the way down, it's nice and secure. Now we can actually activate the light. And this light only has one output option. It's just gonna be one mode. So there's not a high and low mode, but there is a momentary and constant. So if I press the button slightly, I have a momentary option, or I can click the button and I have a constant option. So what comes in the package of this flashlight, specifically you have your AAA battery to actually be able to turn it on. You have a little lanyard here, if you so desire. And then what the flashlight comes with attached to it is your little pocket clip. Now, cool thing about this clip is that you can actually attach this to your hat if you want to. So this little clip can go onto your hat, quite like that. You can turn this guy on.
Now you have a little headlamp, which is pretty cool. That is a feature that I actually prioritize when picking out a light. I will say I do carry the SureFire light because that is one of the features I like. And I also like to be able to go add in mode first with my flashlight. So, and the fact that this light comes with that, pretty cool. And this is definitely a really cool light to not only everyday carry, but also if easy to have in your backpack as a backup because of its small form factor.
So after defeating the very annoying packaging of this MicroStream USB version, it comes with the same exact things that the non-rechargeable MicroStream comes with aside from the battery obviously. So instead of coming with a AAA battery, this guy comes with a micro USB cable to charge it. Now, a AAA battery will fit in this flashlight, but it will not work. If you want to charge the battery, you take the battery out and this guy plugs into the battery. But this flashlight offers a little bit more output, it advertises 250 lumens, the other flashlight doesn't have an advertised output, but this guy also has high and low modes. So this is a little interesting, it's something that we discovered that, said, is a little unique. So if you buy the tan one, when you activate the flashlight initially, it's going to be your high mode. And then if you hit the button again, you'll get your low mode. The black one's the opposite. So when I activate the button the first time, I get my low mode first. And then if I hit the button the second time, I now have my high mode. These lights are not programmable, so if you want your low mode first, I guess buy the black one. If you want your high mode to be activated first, buy the tan one. And the same exact thing goes for the tail cap the other flashlight.
I click the button down, it's constant, or I can just hold the button for a momentary. If you're curious about the form factor between the two flashlights, the AAA version versus the rechargeable, they are circumference wise exactly the same, except the rechargeable one is just slightly taller. So if that matters to you, I'm gonna just keep that in mind. The last flashlight, we have the macro stream USB. All of the features, how this light functions exactly the same as the micro stream USB has the exact same tail cap. The only difference is with this light is that it is larger and has more output. So this has 500 lumen output. So if you want just a slightly larger flashlight, go with this guy. This is gonna be more of your EDC flashlight, in my opinion. I think these smaller guys are gonna be for like backpacks and backup lights, but this is definitely ED. You can definitely EDC this guy as well. Or if you know you're regularly wearing something like gym shorts or joggers, and you want a flashlight, this guy will probably be better for you. But just to compare to a SureFire, it's basically the exact same size and length, but the SureFire is much thicker when it comes down to the head, and the SureFire has the exact same output as this flashlight.
So with this flashlight, just to reiterate, it's not programmable. If I hit the button once, I get my high mode. If I hit it the second time, then it's my admin mode. And then if I click it down, whether on high mode or low mode, I have my constant on option. It comes with the same lanyard, comes with a micro USB cable to charge it, just a little bit longer than the other guy. And other than that, it functions exactly the summarize real quick, there are, like I said, a lot of different options out there for flashlights for EDC. And what you're gonna see primarily when it comes down to different, you know, different just categories of flashlights, EDC flashlights, I guess you're gonna say, is you're gonna see some pen size flashlights, like these micro streams.
Then you're gonna get into your more traditional normal size flashlights, like the macro, which is a little bit in between, and then things like your SureFire, these are gonna be like, like I said, your normal, more conventional flashlights. And then you're gonna get into these wedge style flashlights that are a little bit more comfortable for some people to carry. So this is all personal preference of just what you want to carry. The output of these flashlights are all very similar. The micro stream is obviously a little bit less, but for normal EDC needs of illumination, these are all gonna do basically the same thing. It's just gonna come down to how long the flashlights last without needing to be charged, output between 500 to 1,000 lumens or 250 lumens for these smaller guys.
But when it comes down to the type of output, these are all gonna be lumens based, not high candela based. So like the SureFire's, like this Turbo here, obviously high candela light, these Streamlight's are not a high candela light whatsoever. So if you're looking for that high candela option, the Streamlight's are not for you.
I mentioned earlier, my personal preference when it comes to EDC flashlights is the SureFire EDC L1T. These are much more expensive than a Streamlight. So if you're looking for something that's going to be much more cost-effective, the Streamlight's are great. They're gonna be just as durable as SureFire. The only reason why I have this flashlight is I just like the features of it. And so it has that clip so I can attach my hat. If I want constant, I just thread the cap on tight. There is no clicky button, and admin mode comes first. So if I want admin mode, I just hit the button slightly. If I want that full output, I just mash on the button a little bit harder. And that's just my personal preference.
If you're picking out a flashlight, it's gonna come down to personal preference more than anything else. So these are all our Streamlight offerings for EDC flashlights. If you guys have any questions regarding these flashlights or questions in regarding to how they compare to SureFire's or even other companies that we don't sell, like ModLite or Cloud Defensive or anything like that, really any questions at all, just go ahead and shoot us an email at [email protected].
