At T.REX ARMS, there are a number of products from Trijicon that we value very highly, and this happens to be a combination of two of those products. This is the Trijicon TA2. So this is their battery powered ACOG that doesn't have the fiber optic, you know, the traditional TA31 that you're probably familiar with. And the one thing that really sets this particular ACOG model apart from the traditional fiber optic model, is there is room to mount a miniature red dot, in this case a 3.25 MOA RMR at the front of the optic. Now, there's a lot of advantages to this compared to mounting the optic in the rear. And that is, uh, there's a little bit more room for your, night vision for using it to passively aim. It's also not just right up here next to your eyeball when you're getting a sight picture through the RMR.
If you're wearing a mount on your helmet and you go to get a sight picture into the ACOG and you have an RMR mounted here to the rear, sometimes your mount on your helmet or even just your helmet itself will actually hit the RMR positioned here at the rear of the, ACOG. Having it mounted to the front just makes a form factor a little bit more intuitive with different equipment and also for using night vision. So really huge fan of this particular combo. If I'm running an RMR on an ACOG, this is the one I'm going with. And the nice thing here is this is a complete package right outta the box. Just like that. There's already a battery inside the RMR. All I have to do is drop the included AA into the ACOG to power the, reticle if you know, I want to have an illuminated reticle.
And then this is ready to slap onto the gun. There's really nothing else going on inside the box. We have a cleaner lens cleaner for the RMR and the ACOG, and then we have two manuals, one for the RMR and one for the ACOG so that you know you're good to go as far as that goes. So if you need any further detail on either product, which happens to be combined in this one product, the manuals are there to support you. And there's also an Allen wrench there to remove the RMR when it comes time to change out the battery. So let's go ahead and insert the battery into the ACOG and then get it all mounted up. And this has this standard thumb screw mount. Doesn't have a, you know, a fancy cutie mount out there. Obviously it's compatible with other ACOG mounts.
So if you want a QD mount, you want some of the other aftermarket out there, the Geissele or whatever, you can always add it. One important thing to remember with the ACOG is there is on this particular model, 1.5 inches of eye relief, which is something a lot of people complain about. But if you actually mount the ACOG to the rear of the upper receiver and you ditch the rear sight, which I know some of you military guys haven't been allowed to do in the past, and you actually bring your, if you're gonna run a backup, bring it to the front, that allows you to have a good length of pole and have good eye relief on the ACOG. So I'm able to get a very solid eye relief with no problem because I was able to mount the ACOG in the rear, which is really where it was meant to be. When I transitioned to the RMR I'm just lifting my head a little bit. I don't have a whole lot of chin on the stock, but I have just a little bit so that I can have a consistent site picture with the RMR and that's really nice. But we're gonna go ahead and get this thing all painted up and see what it looks like.
So that's the ACOG and RMR all painted up on this 16 inch rifle. And so the only thing left to do is to go out there and zero it. I would recommend zeroing the ACOG at a 100 meters, especially if you're running a 13-9, 13-7 14-5, 16, something like that. So that BDC can line up, uh, the RMR you could do a 50 meter zero. Uh, I'm probably just gonna do a 100 on that, figure out my holds are, but I pretty much only shoot the RMR inside of about a 100 meters. I'm not really taking it out further than that. Really no reason to when I've got the excellent glass clarity and the 4x magnification of the ACOG.
