So you just got your dual tube night vision set up and now you're trying to figure out what other accessories you need on your helmet to help improve your night vision experience. One of those items that I think will definitely improve your overall night vision experience is going to be a battery pack. So battery packs are going to serve two functions, one of which is obviously a battery pack. It's going to provide power to your night vision device, whatever dual tube setup you have, and it's also going to serve as a counterweight. So if you're running dual tube night vision, you're probably aware, especially if you're using a bump helmet, you're going to need some sort of counterweight to help balance out your overall helmet setup and a battery pack is actually a good way to do it.

Now if you have an obnoxious night vision setup that is very heavy, some old school, like PVS-15s or something like that, battery packs may not be heavy enough for a proper counterbalance, but if you're running one of the dual tube setups that we offer on the website, RNVGA's, RPNVGs, or RNVGs. This battery pack serves as a good counterweight for those options. Now this battery pack right here is from AB, so this is the AB night vision low profile battery pack. It comes in black and tan. I have had this one on my helmet for over a year now. I love it. So first thing we're going to do is we're going to open the package and see what comes with the battery pack itself. This is a pretty straightforward item. There's not a lot to talk about, so we're going to get through this as fast as we can.

In the package, you're just going to get a plastic bag. This is actually the first time I've opened this myself. We have something in that plastic bag there. We'll figure it out in a minute. And your battery pack's going to be evidently taped up in this wrap here, so it is very protective. Now once you get past the packaging, you're going to have your battery pack itself. The thing about this battery pack is the fact that it takes AA's and 123's. So on either side of the battery pack you can have.

Batteries or a single 123. So you can have a 123 on each side or you can have AA's on each side or AA's on one side and 123's or a single 123 on the other side. And to open the battery compartment all you're going to do is turn the little knob on either side of the battery compartment and pull it out and then you put in your two AA's on the side or your 123 in the middle. You cannot have two AA's and a 123. It's not going to fit. You do either or.

And to turn on the battery pack, now when you turn it on you're going to have the switch in the middle and you're going to turn it either left which will power the left side of the battery pack or you turn it to the right and that will power on the other side of the battery pack. So, you know, your AA's completely die. You can still have at your 123 are your second set of AA's to continue to power your night vision device. So mounting it to the helmet is super simple. It's just Velcro on the back so you just need some sort of loop Velcro on your helmet. You just slap it on there and I just have.

Here to help retain it and also for additional cable management and then I route the cable up to the front so I can then plug it into my night vision.

The thing I really like about this battery pack is I don't need to have a battery in my night vision device. All I need is this battery pack in order for it to have power. So when I mount this guy up I just want to make sure that I actually attach the cable before I mount the night vision device because I think it just makes it a little bit easier because if you look at the cable there's a little red circle here and then on your night vision device there's going to be a little red dot for where the plug-in is that has to line up and doing that while mounting on the helmet can be a little bit tricky. So just make sure that's hooked up.

Attach my retention cables if I want to but I'm not going to do that for this video. And then when I deploy it this cable stays nice and out of the way and then I can turn on my night vision even though there's no battery in there. So if you have a battery in your night vision device you don't need to attach this obviously but if you're doing something undernods for a long period of time it's probably a good idea to have battery in your nods plus your battery pack so when the battery in your night vision dies you just reach back turn on your battery pack and you can remain.

So another thing that this battery pack comes with is this little piece here which mine did not originally come with but what this does is turns this guy into a kind of 90 degree angle here so all you're going to do is bend the cable push this down on it onto the adapter or onto the plug-in itself.

Now you kind of have a 90 degree angle thing going on here. So this is going to be more important for your RP and VG's so the cable is not sticking straight out for RVGA's and RVG's not the most important thing so really this is going to just be for your RP and VG's. So this battery pack is compatible with our dual night vision offerings so this is not going to work with the PVS14 or the RVM14.

I'm not sure what other night vision devices outside of the A, B night vision housings that this works with so all we can guarantee is that it works with the dual tube offerings that we currently sell on the website. So if you guys have any other questions about this battery pack go ahead and shoot us an email at team@trex-arms.com.
