If you're interested in adding a magwell to your Gen3 or Gen4 Glock, cuz you haven't gone out and bought a Gen5 or maybe you're just not sure if you like the idea of a magwell, you want to try one. But a lot of the really nice ones out there are really expensive. The MagPul Magwell that they came out with a couple years ago for the Glock's is a great option both to try out and see if you like magwell to begin with and also as a magwell itself for you to actually put to use and, uh, reload a little bit easier and sometimes a little bit faster. So let's talk about mounting it. When you purchase these, you do have to purchase them. They are generation specific. They're also Glock size specific. So if you have a, Glock 17, you're gonna need the Glock 17 size magwell because the, uh, the beaver tail area, the bubble gun compartment and everything else going on with the grip is a different size on a full size 17 versus a compact 19.

So it is generation specific and model specific, but being inexpensive, that's okay. The magwell looks just like this. It is only a single screw, unlike a few other mag out there that have one screw that goes in from the bottom into a secondary piece that goes into the bubblegum compartment and one screw that actually locks that into place. This is a single screw, uh, you know, sort of a design, which I actually really like cause it's just a little bit more, uh, simple. You're gonna hook the front of the magwell to the, uh, lip of the Glock and then the rear is going to slip in, just like that push to ensure a snug fit. And then this little lanyard hole loop thing on the back of the Glock is where you are going to be indexing that single screw. I got it started. Now take an allen key, or in this case I have a torques key.

And you're gonna screw on this sucker until the screw is flush with the frame of your pistol. As you can see right here, the magwell should be snug at this point, it's not gonna go anywhere. And we wanna ensure that our magazines can still drop free because on some mag wells out there, if you tighten them down too much, you actually start to collapse the frame of the Glock itself and then your mags don't drop free. And that's worse than having the benefit of a magwell. And I would get rid of that magwell or buy another one and see if the tolerance is good to go. So I've got three different magazines here. Glock 19 mag drops free.

And another 17 with a 15. And what a Magwell does is it doesn't necessarily speed up your reloads, but it does give you a little bit more room for error when you are, you know, grabbing a magazine really quickly. Maybe you haven't practiced reloads a whole lot, maybe it's not, you know, a hundred percent the, you know, the same every time. You're not landing reloads, uh, perfectly. Uh, it does give you that little bit room for error, around the lips so you're not hitting that hard edge of the Glock, but it doesn't necessarily speed up your reload. It still comes down to you actually going to your magazine quickly, actually putting it into the, the gun nice and fast and actually getting back onto the pistol, uh, quickly. But it does give you a little bit more room for error and that can, uh, lead to a more consistent reload and sometimes a little bit faster.

Cause people start to go quicker because they know that even if they miss it's a funnel and the mag can still get run into the pistol. So that is the benefit of a magwell. Uh, this is a really nice little one. It's not too bad for concealment. It only, uh, you know, pops out from the Glock just a little bit. So it's really not too bad and it's also just gives you that little bit of that little edge that you might want for reloading. So yeah, that's the Magpul Magwell.
